Bubonic plague is one form of plague. Plague is an illness that occurs in humans, rodents, and ectoparasites (such as fleas or lice). It is typically spread through bites from an infected flea or rodent. Treatment for bubonic plague usually involves antibiotics and supportive care. If the disease is left untreated, plague bacteria can multiply in the bloodstream, causing septicemic plague or pneumonic plague.
